Editorial Reviews From Booklist This scholar, illustrated book on twentieth-century naval warfare is part of a series edited by renowned historian John Keegan, War and written by contributors from no less making ideas happen epub. If it is typical of his peers, it bodes well for base collections of military history making ideas happen epub. The text summarizes the major naval operations, especially the British, American and German in the two world wars and the interwar period, the growth of naval aviation. Battle of the accounts are superficial, sketches of character are alive, but the book's greatest strengths are its maps and illustrations. His weaknesses are editing uncertainty and a lack of material on the Japanese and Italian Navy in the Second World War and the arms race between Britain and Germany that have shaped the course of the sea actions of World War I is the focus on readability, the bibliography, which, given the size of the literature on the subject, is forgivable. If this is not ideal for serious marine enthusiasts, the book should deeply aroused the interest of the student naval neophytes. Roland Green Copyright © American Library Association.
